Build Green with Bamboo
Each year hundreds of thousands of board feet of bamboo are turned into kitchens and architectural millwork around the world. That may be nothing new in itself, but the surprising fact is that much of that commercially viable wood is grown on tree farms in the eastern tropics. Renewable and Sustainable? Yes...and there’s more. Modern bamboo panels can be provided that do not contain or use formaldehyde or other toxic chemicals. The production process uses resins that do not off gas like volatile solvents.
High-performance, furniture-grade bamboo
hardwood panels and veneer
To assure performance and quality demanded of furniture grade hardwood panels and veneer, abaico bamboo products are professionally tested for hardness, adhesive formaldehyde levels, moisture content, deflection, flexural/strength, flammability, strength, tensile strength and screw holding both face and edge.
The subtle grains and colors of abaico’s bamboo hardwood collection of panels and veneers bring uncommon beauty and versatility to the designer’s desk and produce one-of-a-kind pieces from classic to contemporary in residential and commercial interior installations.
Renewable Bamboo Crop Before Harvest
Durable and dimensionally stable, abaico bamboo panels are made from Moso bamboo (Phyllostachyi pubescens) sustainably harvested at maturity between 5 1/2 and 6 years for maximum stability and hardness. The result is products that are 25% harder than oak, 12% harder than maple, and contract and expand less than most traditional hardwoods.

Renewable and safe with two LEED8 credits
Bamboo products contribute to certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED' (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Rating System: MR Credit 6: Rapidly Renewable Materials. Because abaico bamboo products are virtually formaldehyde-free (0.0155 ppm), they also contribute to IEQ Credit 4: Low-Emitting Material
